I tried posting a comment about a day and a half or so ago and it never got through.
Arturo, nobody here wants to disrespect or be irreverent to the Lord. Those who make the video don’t think they’re using irreverence to promote the Lord’s Name. The opinion that fart humor is irreverent comes from the way you were raised, what you were taught was good manners or bad manners, your culture, and your personality. God is not an American, and He is not Emily Post. Your manners aren’t Biblically commanded and that’s why an argument against a Biblical command (the Great Commission) can’t be made out of them.
The Lord has commanded us to treat each other as brothers. I hope this post of mine unites more than it divides. It should unite us by showing that our differences don’t make us anti-God or anti-reverence. God bless.
This is awesome!! Jesus was human like everyone else!!
Obviously, the video has created a very interesting dialogue among the viewers. When I first read the comments, I was angered by some of the personal attacks being made . The pastor of Ekklesia is my son, and my “motherly instincts” took over. My boy was being attacked!! I’m sure all of you moms out there know what I mean. I’ve recovered now, and am just enjoying all of the conversation that has developed from one video. My husband and I live in Indiana, are conservative Christians, and love the Lord. We have visited Ekklesia and were so welcomed by loving people who are passionate about our God. Before making personal attacks on others, we might want to take a closer look. Sometimes controversy can be a good thing.
Arturo,
Jesus having sex with Mary Magdalene is not in the Bible because of a simple fact: sex outside of marriage is biblically a SIN. And I can guarantee u one thing: Jesus did Never sin…except when he farted;)
At this point, we should just agree to disagree…
lol~good job Ekklesia!!I love it!
Christians make skits up ALL THE TIME to give examples of the bible,Jesus, etc.I really cant find any difference between this video and and the ones you see at church on sunday morning! Were all trying to reach out so people all have a chance to know God,and ya know, its working! This was a job well done!
I HATE Ekklesia!
Chris’ Mom, excellent comment!
Mr. Alex Woods
Great great comment ! ” Our differences don’t make us anti-God or anti-reverence” Very well spoke! Crossing the line is our humanly invention !!!
Where is the line anyway? And still nobody was able to demonstrate that this was biblicaly wrong, and just some personal expresions that showed how limited we are by culture, religion, logic and our poor small brains.
Awesome video!! still gets me
God bless.
Arturo,
I want to take a moment to let you know that what I have read from your posts is that you seem very fustrated at the video, not getting answers, and that this church has disrespected the God that you serve. I want you to know that I appreciate your energy and passion in defending your faith. I want you to know that your concerns are very real and I respect your opinions. I want to leave you with some words of encouragement. Perhaps this church has disrespected Christ (but are unaware) and I want you to remember the words of Jesus as He was on the cross taking the punishment for your sin, my sin, and the sins of the world “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do”. This is proof of Christ’s reaction to those who nailed him to the cross (and for those of us who continue to nail Him there w/ our sins) of His love, compassion, and forgiveness to those who are unworthy of His mercy. Maybe God does not approve of this video, but that does not mean that He won’t turn it and use it into something good! Remember Joseph when he saw his own brothers who wronged him, who wronged Christ? “You meant it for evil, but God meant it for GOOD” Praise God that He can take evil and make it good, death and make it life, pain and make it joy, dying sinners to forgive sinners! We will never be able to give people “proof” that the Bible says point blank that this video is wrong because God gives us the discernment b/t right and wrong as a gift that we carry in our hearts and the Holy Spirit who leads and guides us. Ignore the people asking you if you fart in church. That is silly because you and I agree that is not the issue. We will never know if Jesus farted, had body odor, or even used the bathroom at all! What I do know is that all things will be revealed to us on that glorious day! Get excited! Keep your energy and passion for Christ going! I know God is waiting to use you in a mighty way! Don’t let this video or the comments/attacks towards you discourage you in any way, but let it encourage you to continue making disciples and defending the Truth!
God Bless
As the writer and producer of the first entry into the iFart contest I must honestly say this video is way better. I hope the iFart judges see the PR potential in allowing this entry to win.
Hi Jean, no doubt God is all powerful and can turn everything to good, including our imperfect methods to witness for Him. The question is whether we should join the world and encourage this sort of thing in our churches. Christians and Christianity is already a big enough joke to the world, without churches making their best efforts to contribute to that destructive cause.
A very significant point that can be made is that it isn’t Jesus’ human side that non-believers have trouble with, it’s accepting His divine nature.
I think it’s rather fascinating that the debate has come down to non-Biblical rationalizations over whether farting is dignified or not and its cultural relevance. Actually, I thought the fact that farting is undignified is what makes it funny. Maybe members of Ekklesia can educate us all on this (I can envision a regular Wednesday night course on the history of farting, its global influence, and how it is regarded from one culture to another).
Dear Chris’ Mom,
Suppose your son wanted to make a very short video that communicated what a great mother you have been to him. With all the wonderful experiences he must have had with you, do you think he could most effectively communicate that by having somebody portray you farting?
I would think the instincts of Christians who truly love the Lord would take over here and that they would not appreciate our Kings of Kings being portrayed in a lowly manner. It’s unfortunate that your son would not only allow a video like this in his church, but would avidly promote it, and recruit others to skew public opinion, including his own mother.
As your son and his fellow Ekklesians attempt to justify becoming like non-Christians in order to appeal to them, please consider this passage from 2 Corinthians 6:14 to 7:1 and what it has to say about revering the Lord:
14Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? 15What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? 16What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.”
17″Therefore come out from them
and be separate, says the Lord.
Touch no unclean thing,
and I will receive you.”
18″I will be a Father to you,
and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”
1Since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.
rock it. maybe someone will think about Jesus after this PARODY video. that would be a great testimony.
By the way, Chris’ Mom, you might want to check out the crude “personal attack” that he made on a “middle aged” Jehovah’s Witness lady in a previous post…it might call for a spanking next time he visits.
If my mother was an incredible mother (which she is) and I wanted the world to understand how wonderful she was, I just might make a video about her with some farts tossed in there. Suppose I had some siblings that didn’t make my mother look very incredible. Let’s say they made her out to be judgmental, mean, boring, and uptight. Even though they loved her, they just gave a poor description of who she was. I think I would go to those people and say “hey, my mother is awesome, she even likes fart jokes.” This would in no way make her out to be less of a mother, in fact, it would show more of who she was, humor and all. I don’t think she would think of this as disrespectful either. If peoples’ souls depended on understanding who my mother truly was, I would have no problem making a video like that and she wouldn’t either.
Loved how this showed that Jesus was a man, a regular human being that even farted like all of us
Very creative!
Ekklesians?? lol..now you guys even turn a church in a “cultural” movement from a video that shocked your poor “judgemental” cultural religious mind?
Wow…I really have nothing to say anymore…..
Oh by the way, oopps I just farted !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
………………………..
………………………..
Arturo,
You can make a video about your mother and you can do it however you want it to. I promise nobody will say anything.
Until then, you can leave somebody else’s mother alone to do a video however, they want to. I think a mom knows his son better than you can by just seeing a video approved by him.
Anyways, honestly my friend, your comments are qualms of conscience that holds “NO LOVE” in them. I am telling you “brother in Christ” that this is not the right way to look to other people.
BTW, Jesus might shock you again probably in heaven where you “might” see Ekklesians in heaven and guess what; there will be no fence between them and YOU. Are you going to give them a hug? Oh, I challenge you to
Dude, just praise Lord and pray without throwing judgmental qualms of conscience with no love because really it is no help in that. Does not influence in any good way an Ekklesian, non-believer, Christian, pretending Christians or atheists
I am telling these words in LOVE.
p.s. I am an Ekklesian and I approve this message (Where an Ekklesian meets an Arturorian)
God bless brother
Peace!
I do not believe in Arturorian believes !
And no matter what you believe, “Happy Mother’s day” to all their mom’s out there including mom’s Chris ! God bless you and your family !!
And of course, ifart rocks!! Awesome video “again” !
I ment Chris’s mom
Arturo,
Why all the negative comments? Jesus is about love man. Has anything been accomplished by your posts? I think maybe you should agree to disagree and spend your time doing something more worth while. Like perhaps making disciples.
God Bless You!
Coupe, Matt, Dennis:
First, yes, when I made the post to Chris’ Mom (and the point was intended for Chris’ Mom), I knew some of you would be saying something of the ilk: “Yes, a video of my mother farting is all people would need to know about her!”
But here’s a novel suggestion. Instead of joining the fray and accusing people who oppose this video on scriptural grounds with the same old knee-jerk “judgmental,” “uptight,” “religious,” “personal attacks” routine, why can’t you provide some scripture that supports this approach to evangelization? Once again, it is the Word of God that judges you, not me.
You make and/or support a video that belittles the person of Christ, and then you accuse others of being negative for not joining in the mockery? That’s a good one.
Incidentally, just from another critique standpoint…you guys who pride yourselves as being so anti-religion and cutting edge, haven’t you noticed with all your obsession with flatulence, that other than making farting noises, your Jesus comes across as the same old stereotyped, religious, dead-pan, monotone, stiff, spaced-out, unapproachable, unhumorous “Jesus” of Hollywood?
Also, Matt: Thanks for the “positive,” “non-judgmental” response, but I noticed in that response that you completely ignored the scripture I posted. Please tell me how you would interpret what Paul is communicating. I am much more interested in how you argue with the Word of God. Ken and all other members of Ekklesia please feel free to join in on that.
Dennis, Jesus is not just about love, but He is also about Truth. And that is how He showed the world love, by revealing Himself as the Way, the Truth, and the Life. There is nothing loving about being misguiding with regard to the Truth, and by teaching others untruths about the worship and proper respect that Jesus is owed. Please get off your high horse and explain to me how irreverence of Jesus makes disciples.
As a 22-year old Christian, I am appalled and ashamed by this gross
disrespect of my Lord. It’s enough that the secular world is making fun of
Christianity and the person of Jesus without having Christians joining in on
it.
This isn’t an appropriate method to bring in new Christians. They don’t need
a dumbed down gospel; this will only encourage shallow roots in the faith.
The kind of message this video is putting out is speaking out to young
people who already think Christianity is some kind of joke.
I’m tired of hearing about “uptight Christians.” I have no doubt that Jesus
had a sense of humor, but His sense of humor didn’t include having fun at
the expense of the Trinity. In fact, He said that blasphemy against the Holy
Spirit would not be forgiven.
If this church had any kind of sense, they would withdraw this video.
sweet video!
I suggest that the most loving thing we can do for Arturo is stop responding to him. There are plenty of excellent comments here, on our website blog, and in recent sermons that clearly address Arturo’s challenges. Remember, Jesus walked away from many arguments without even addressing them. Sometimes He changed the subject. Sometimes He flipped the question. Let’s try to be like Jesus on this one… and every other one that comes in the future
Many of the comments on this site are excellent, and are worth responding to! So for you frequent bloggers, let’s stick to those, and even move on to new perspectives.
Chris,
You offer a great perspective and make a great point. Thank you for all you do!
My father taught me many important lessons. I remember the night he told me, “Son, if you want to make a statement of opposition, but don’t have what it takes to put your name to it, then you have nothing to offer.” I ignore all opposing comments made by people who cannot sign their first and last names. I suggest everyone else do the same.
Pseudonyms are funny for the positive comments though
Right Coupe!
By the way, I’m referring specifically to “Mustard Seed’s” comment.
Mustard Seed:
I appreciate your comments, it is encouraging to know that there are solidly-grounded young Christians who don’t agree that the real Jesus needs to be cloaked in bathroom humor in order to make Him palatable to young non-believers. I love your Biblical pseudonym, by the way. Please pay no attention to Mr. Lambert’s rude and overtly biased snub, he obviously doesn’t speak for all young Christians, nor does he administrate this forum, as much as he might like to.
Mr.Lambert:
The ironic fact is, not one of your followers IS responding to my point that an irreverent approach to evangelism has no Biblical basis, so your admonishments are a rather redundant effort, wouldn’t you say? I have posted a legitimate scripture passage from 2 Corinthians 6 and 7 and asked how does this passage square with your approach that one must become of the world in order to witness to it. If it makes you feel better, consider that by responding to the passage you would actually be responding to the Holy Spirit-inspired words of Paul and the commands of God, and not me. In fact, that’s all I’ve been trying to get you and your fellow Ekklesians to do all along.
I write that, realizing of course, and based upon the thread so far, that a lack of response is no doubt a foregone conclusion since it appears that for the supporters of this video, their own personal opinion is being given more reverence than the Word of God.
Given their degree of reverence for Jesus, why is it I am not surprised?
Hey Mustard Seed, did you move any mountains yet ?
Hey dont take it in a negative way brother. I am just throwing a funny statement, regardles of this video, subject or anything else. Btw, thanks for posting the comment.
Awesome video
Besides that, praise the Lord and go ifart!
“By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another. —John 13:35
It comes to a point that doesnt matter who do you think is right of wrong.
We fail here and we will fail in any other categories. So help us God to accomplish john 13:35.
GOD bless anyone who is seeing this video or comments on the blog.
p.s. I am an Ekklesian and I approve this message ( where an Ekklesian meets a Mustardian )
Peace!
Guys I wanna confess.
I just farted and I wasnt at the bathroom
Since i wasnt there I am a little confused now because it is no longer considered “bathroom humor”. Please HELP! In what category am I know?
Is it bad what I just did?
GO ifart!!!!!!!!!
Chris,
If you had the faith of a mustard seed, you wouldn’t need to rely on gimmicks to reach the hearts of young people. The power of the Holy Spirit and the Gospel Truth are enough.
Your sister in Christ,
Nicole
Aturo you asked for a scriptural basis for the video that Chris and the Christian brothers at Ekklesia made. Well here is one for you from the apostle Paul 1Corinthians 9:19-23 “19 For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more. 20 And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; 21 To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law. 22 To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. 23 And this I do for the gospel’s sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.” I even used the King James Version just in case you are one of those KJV only narrow minded individuals. As a Pastor I find Chris and the Gangs video a wonderful conversation tool. Sometimes we as Christians so diefy Jesus that we forget that there was a man accussed of being a drunk and rabble rouser by the Religious Right of his day. I can even see them making a comment after Jesus let one Rip. Sorry that your mind is so caught in your religious paradigm that you cant see potential where it is avaliable.
To Chris and the Believers at Ekklesia, My church isnt big yet but I will tell them all to check this out and vote on it. Love ya all
Pastor G
To all who thinks this clip is funny,
Revelations 22 v12
And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give every one according to his work. Now we all wanna make sure that we work for the true living GOD, so our reward will be eternal life with Christ and not everlasting punishment. As far as the clip goes and if the pastor stands behind it…”Blind leading the Blind”. May God have mercy on you all and heal your spiritual blindness.
Spiritrual blindless !? wow…through whom and with what power a human can make such statements? You guys are really shocking me more than the video can shock you

Everyday is a surprise on this blog
It definitely looks like God is really working through this.
Praise God and go ifart !!

I find it funny that you’re asking the very same question that the pharisees asked Jesus..
Awesome!!
If there was a god, than one of the biggest reasons he would send Jesus to be human would be in order to experience all parts of being alive. Especially raw and uncomfortable times . God’s quest with Jesus was a recon mission to find out what being alive is like. Recon for the one thing a god couldnt be, alive, as a human would know the word. love the video, love christians, love all….
I see you’ve still got people talking!
I love this video!! Good job Jesus lovers!
lol. good luck.
I want to kill everyone who likes Ekklesia!
And that’s no marketing gimmick!!!
In the pharisee context , they did not recognize GOD in Jesus and they thought is just a human with great powers.
In my case ( my last comment) i think I recognize that mustrad seed is a human like me. With flaws.
People are still searching Jesus and some are recognizing HIM and some are confusing HIM with their “idea of Jesus”. It might that I do the same in some points cause I am human too. But so you all are. And I think we are in the same boat where honestly we just need to focus on Jesus and his words:
“By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another. —John 13:35
Some are still stuck commeting the same stuff without daring to look form 2d in 3D or from a different angle.
Some are already moving to a different perspective.
Until then, God bless to all and whatever you will think, ifart rocks and it brings people to Jesus. You can ignore that with all your heart or you can pray for a change and a new perspective in your heart, in my heart and in a non-believers heart.
Peace!
p.s. I am an Ekklesian and I approve this message ( where an Ekklesian is 100% human).
“Pastor” George, you obviously are just as spiritually immature as a “pastor” as Mr. Lambert if that is the way you interpret scripture, please explain to me how that passage jives with the passage from 2nd Corinthians 6:14 - 7:1. In other words, explain how the passage you cite allows Christians to be irreverent of Christ while they reach out to the world.
I am still waiting for a scripture passage that says one is given free license to belittle the Lord of Lords and King of Kings and present Him to the world in that fashion.
The person using the Satan alias should show you how this church lacks judgment and discernment and how far they will go just to “win.”
Ekklesia is not following the way of God and His Word but the way of the world, which has taught its pastor and members that a sure way to get squeaky-wheel style attention is to stir up controversy over Jesus. Notice how in the very first post the pastor admits that this is what he was doing.
Danny: Amen, brother. Blind leading the blind, I was thinking of the exact same scripture myself.
Mustard Seed: Well said!
Ildy: Exactly, this church that looks down its nose at other churches and Christians because they’re not into their irreverent style of witness is behaving just like the religious Pharisees types they claim to reject.
I would also like to comment with specific regard to the scripture quoted by “Pastor” George, the scripture all too often abused of “being all things to all people”… as if it is some kind of proof text that we as Christians have free license to do anything we feel like.
First, the passage comes from a specific context beginning in the previous chapter which has to do with the issue of food being sacrificed to idols. Secondly, we know by using common sense and the context of all scripture that that doesn’t mean we become an idolator to reach out to idolators, nor child molesters to reach out to child molesters, etc. Nor, if you were using that same sense that God gave you, does it mean that you have free license to become disrespectful and irreverent to the Lord in order to reach out to those who don’t respect or revere Him as God.
Paul specifically refers to this in the previous chapter (1 Corinthians 8:9) - “Be careful, however, that the exercise of your freedom does not become a stumbling block to the weak.”
And if you continue to read on, within the context of the same topic, these cautions continue in 1 Corinthians 10, reinforcing that we as Christians don’t have carte blanche, as opposed to what “Pastor” George implies:
“Everything is permissible—but not everything is beneficial. Everything is permissible—but not everything is constructive.” (1 Corinthians 10:23)
“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all FOR THE GLORY OF GOD. Do not cause anyone to stumble, whether Jews, Greeks OR THE CHURCH OF GOD— even as I try to please everybody in every way. For I am not seeking my own good but the good of many, so that they may be saved.” (1 Corinthians 10:31-33)
Amen, brother Paul. Praise God for the light of His Word, may it bring sight to the blind!
Arturo,
There is no Biblical evidence that farting or bathroom humor situations are irreverent. That opinion is yours and shared by some but not by all. We do not want to be a stumbling block to you who think this type of humor is a stumbling block. That is why it is (for lack of a better term) marketed towards others, not towards you. That’s what I meant when I said we’re pursuing the 1, not the 99.
The Bible absolutely commands respect and reverence for God, and here is how we revere Him: by following His commands. We follow His command to make disciples and we follow it reverently, presenting a Gospel message in the midst of a funny situation to reach the ears of those who are looking for funny videos.
Let me repeat: if this were irreverent, we wouldn’t do it. You can’t prove that it’s irreverent. We do revere our Lord and we will continue praying for the leading of the Holy Spirit (and the denial of ourselves).
I hope this comment reaches you in love and serves to unite rather than divide.
Come on, Alex, let’s get real, okay? Bathroom humor is considered funny (mostly by adolescents and those younger) simply because it is considered irreverent humor. Try looking up “toilet humor” or “off-color” on the Wiki as a contemporary arbitor of popular thinking along these lines. See if anywhere it says anything about this form of humor being considered dignified or reverent in style. Instead, you’ll find that this humor is “considered to be in poor taste or overly vulgar by the prevailing morals in a culture.” And, in spite of the ridiculous claims that farting is considered a wonderful thing in many cultures: “Public reference to bodily functions is taboo in many cultures.”
Actually, even if you had portrayed Jesus selling anything, whether it was an automobile or shaving cream, I would find it highly inappropriate. Imagine a future where we are routinely bombarded with commercials that depict Jesus selling products, you think that that cheapening of Jesus’ image would not have a negative impact on outreach?
Incidentally, yesterday I heard of a fascinating news development: Apple recently rejected an iPhone application called “Me So Holy” which would allow users to superimpose their face onto an image of Jesus.
From TGdaily.com:
“The company has rejected Me So Holy on the basis of a clause in the iPhone agreement which states: ‘Applications must not contain any obscene, pornographic, offensive or defamatory content or materials of any kind (text, graphics, images, photographs, etc.), or other content or materials that in Apple’s reasonable judgment may be found objectionable by iPhone or iPod touch users.’”
Even a profit-driven businesses like Apple has more common sense than Ekklesia about what is inappropriate!
It seems like the common complaint about this video is that it shows irreverence towards God. I can completely understand why people think that. I also appreciate their willingness to say something about it if they feel that way, however; we need to be careful about what we call irreverent. I’ll admit, if I had watched this video many years ago I would have been disgusted with it, but then, I also would have been disgusted with someone wearing crappy clothes to church too. Look at Peter. What do you think he was thinking when Jesus started washing his feet? He said “Jesus, I can’t let you wash my feet!” Jesus told Peter “Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.” Then Peter, feeling stupid, says “not just my feet but my hands and my head too!” Peter’s intentions were good, he only wanted to show reverence towards his Lord, but Jesus had a different take on what reverence should be.
